You only start with 6 characters. You have to unlock the rest. Huge roster, but you gotta unlock nearly all of them. They way you unlock them is freakin’ retarded. You have to earn points to purchase, which seems pretty normal, BUT you also have to unlock a character slot, and to do that, you have to level up your “Friendship” gauge.
I honestly don’t get why if you have purchase them with points, you still need to meet other requirements. Story mode is It say there are 4 different stories, but they are exactly the same.
Events, fights, plot. Exactly the same. You just play as different characters, but he assist characters are exactly the same regardless. Gameplay wise, it’s pretty fun once you get the hang of it. Pretty sporadic and wild until you get used to it. If you’re familiar with the Tenkaichi DBZ games, you should pick it up quick.
One neat thing is that powering up works different for a lot of the characters. For example, with Goku, and Kenshiro, you just hold R1 and X, and they charge until you let go, but with someone like Hiei, he instantly goes up a whole bar by taking off the bandana over his third eye, and then he powers up the same as Goku, until he puts the bandana back on.
And then you got characters like Gintoki,who once he starts, even if you’re not holding it anymore, he keeps going until his phrase is done, same wit Ichigo.
Difference is Ichigo has that hollow mask as soon has he’s done his phrase. Good game for weaboos. Not so good for people just looking for a fighting game. That being said, I know next to nothing about more than half the roster. My husband would probably give this game 4 stars. But I would like to give 4, as the story mode feels very “shallow” and repetitive when unlocking different characters.
If you are a big fan on Jump characters and comics, it is fun being able to control your favorite characters. My husband and I have just recently watched Naruto together, so it was quite cool being able to use the tricks to fight.
I am originally from Japan my husband is American so it felt nostalgic hearing the Japanese voice actors. If you are into anime or manga, and if you are into fighting games, this is probably the game for you.
The company I bought this from deserves the 5 stars for fast Delivery and having the package mint and new but as for the game itself it should deserve 3 stars it was pretty meh it’s very confusing to play yes it’s English so you can play it on the PS4 but as for the dialogue the characters are subbed and have only what they say written in English the game is fun and has a battle mode a little similar to naruto games but it gets boring very fast pretty meh if you ask me this game honestly only has the nostalgia of finally being able to fight with multiple characters from different anime but that’s it.

By no means this is a great fighting game, this is a combination of exploration and fighting, it gets repetitive but the fights are fun to watch and it has so many characters doing all their special moves one ends up loving it, my kid is totally hook with this game, I sit and wach him play for hours just to see what characters he will be using next and what are their special attacks, if I was rating this game for an adult I would give it maybe 3 stars but for a kid this is undoubtedly a 5 stars game.
It’s a great tribute to a good amount of anime and manga characters, but when it comes to gameplay some ideas are better than others. Still, as a game, it is really fun, and particularly enjoyable if you like the franchises it is based on.
